After donating goods to the Fallbrook food pantry down the street, my friend and I stopped in to Main St., Café and had a late breakfast.
We were both really hungry so everything on the menu looked amazing!
They have an assortment of different foods from really sweet stuffed French toast to a Greek omelette. I ended up getting the breakfast sandwich with (REAL) bacon and provolone. It was served on sourdough toast and perfectly toasted. I opted for fresh fruit as a side and I LOVED that it didn't have an up-charge to it.
The staff was very friendly and the ambience that of a small town feel.
I'll be returning with my family next time, so they can enjoy the delicious food!
Good morning y'all,
Main Street Café= breakfast/lunch offerings, friendly/efficient service and a dining room that'll take you back in time ... as in the 70's or 60's. (70's ruled!)
Whaaat??? Hahahah. Just my opinion. :)
It's not uncommon to see people waiting for a table to open as this is a small operation. (which is a good thing)
If available, I would recommend sitting out on their covered porch.
Today we decided to split the breakfast sandwich w/ham and country potatoes.
Then later, my 5yr old (wife) decided she wanted pancakes. Oy vey ... but par for the course. ;)
The breakfast sandwich was ok and in hindsight; should have ordered the fresh fruit instead of them spuds.
The pancakes looked great as it arrived to our table.
But ... yup, sorry.
Pancake didn't pass my pull test.
Huh? Pull test?? What the???
Ok, pull test is when you take your fork and "pull"
a piece of pancake. It should come apart like eating a cake.
If said pancake doesn't pull off easy and it's kind of rubbery, then there's a great chance it's not made from scratch but is of the "instant" variety. No bueno.
Another "instant" giveaway .... margarine is served w/pancakes instead of "real" butter.
I will say, the other times I came here, I enjoyed the food.
However, it's all relative .. Right?
First time coming here and just have to say that this place is okay. My boyfriend ordered a skillet which was really good, but the side of biscuits & gravy lacked flavor and was barely warm. I ordered the French toast with the filling but have to say I was really disappointed. There was barely any filling, and the French toast was really eggy and chewy.
Besides the food, the place has a cozy feel to it. Something that I recommend to management is wiping down the menus because when I touched them they were extremely sticky with pieces of food on it.
All in all, it's a place worth trying out. I would say stick to the non sweets, since it seems those dishes seem to be better.
The ladies at the cafe were the absolute sweetest! I came here for lunch with my friend and our two pups. There was water waiting for them already but the ladies still made sure the bowl was full, asked about our puppies and we chatted for a bit about their dogs as well. Now for the food. I ordered the Main Street cafe sandwich (bacon, lettuce, tomato, alfalfa sprouts and mushrooms on sourdough) with onion rings. The sammich was delicious and there was plenty of fresh bacon in it to share with my pup! The veggies were crisp and fresh. But let me tell you about those onion rings. Holy. Cow. Best onion rings I have ever had. And they're definitely not using hidden valley ranch there because it was super tasty as well. Not sure what the inside looks like. We were seated outside and it was very cute and properly shaded. I wish I lived closer to this place because I'd be here a lot!
This place has all the ambiance of that old school diner that you could want! The breakfast here is the best in town. My only complaint is that the parking can get tight, but I would walk a mile to eat here!
